Locksters Farm
This is a farm first and a campsite second, and I think that's why people like it. There are cattle in the fields, gates that need shutting, and a track that gets muddy. What there isn't is a reception desk, a shop, or piped music by the showers.
We farm a hundred acres on the south bank at Clifford, between the village and Priory Wood. The riverside meadows flood some winters and come back greener for it, and the same bend has been called Locksters Pool for longer than anyone here can account for.
The camping started small and stayed small on purpose. A few pitches on the meadows, then the bell tents in their own quiet corner, then the railway wagon — a goods wagon we restored beside the old stone barn, because it seemed a waste to let it rot. There's a shepherd's hut going up now, on the rise where you can see the whole bend.
The rules on this site all come from the same place. No dogs, because of the stock. Gates shut, because of the stock. No scavenged wood, because the bank is an S.S.S.I. and protected by law. Nothing amplified after ten, because the next tent is a field away and they came here for the same reason you did.

Four things we'd ask
On foot or in the car, you come through a working yard to reach the meadows. None of this is complicated — it just matters.
- Shut every gate behind you, every time.
- Keep out of the farm buildings and off the planted crops.
- Give the livestock room, and don't get between a cow and her calf.
- Drive it at 20mph, and expect to reverse to a passing place.
